I’ve never fully understood shadow work, does it mean creating space for the uncomfortable feelings to just be?
That’s a great question. 💜 To me, shadow work is more than just making space for difficult feelings. It’s getting to know the parts of yourself you’ve rejected, hidden, or felt ashamed of. Instead of asking, “How do I get rid of this?” you ask, “Why is this part here? What is it trying to protect? What does it need?”
You can do shadow work in lots of ways. Journaling is a great place to start—writing a dialogue with different parts of yourself can be incredibly revealing. Therapy, especially approaches like IFS or Jungian therapy, can also help. Even apps like Mindberg can guide you to reflect on your patterns and unconscious beliefs. The goal isn’t to eliminate your shadow, but to bring it into awareness with curiosity and compassion. 💜
